Dr. Alphonso O. Ogbuehi currently serves as Professor of Marketing and Dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies (CBPS) at °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ, a position he assumed on January 3, 2023. As dean, he is responsible for providing strategic and intellectual leadership and collaborating with faculty, staff, the Greater Charlotte business community. As Chief Academic Officer for the CBPS, he oversees three departments - Business Administration, Health and Human Services, and Social Work. Since arriving at JCSU, he has successfully inaugurated the Dean's Executive Advisory Board consisting of 21 leading executives from the Charlotte area and beyond. He has also launched the Dean's Distinguished Speaker Series sponsored by Barings, LLC. Under his leadership, the JP Morgan Chase Technology/Finance Lab was successfully established in Seabrook Hall to enhance student experiential learning.
Before coming to JCSU, Dr. Ogbuehi served as Professor of Marketing and Dean of the School of Business at Stockton University in Atlantic City, NJ. Major Accomplishments: successfully led AACSB Reaccreditation in 2022; led the development of a new Strategic Plan 2021-2025; inaugurated Dean's Executive Advisory Board with very senior executives (mostly CEOs, Presidents, and Owners); inaugurated School of Business Annual Alumni of the Year Awards Program; inaugurated the Dean's Distinguished Guest Speaker Series; inaugurated School of Business Dean's Alumni Council; successfully led relocation of Stockton MBA to Atlantic City in its entirety and the successfully led launch of the new MBA in Healthcare Administration & Leadership in Fall '20 in collaboration with the Stockton School of Health Sciences; appointed to the Board of Directors of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce (2020); and the development and launching of the new International Journal of Hospitality, Gaming, and Tourism in 2021.
Prior to Stockton University, Dr. Ogbuehi was Dean and Professor of Marketing and International Business at the College of Business at Clayton State University in Metro Atlanta, where he was the first person of color to hold a senior academic leadership position in the history of the institution. During his tenure as Dean at Clayton State University, he reorganized the School of Business Advisory Board, which included executives from four Atlanta-based Fortune 500 firms – Coca-Cola, UPS, Home Depot, and Delta Airlines. He successfully led AACSB Reaccreditation, strengthened corporate partnerships by introducing the College of Business Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series, and successfully launched a Summer Entrepreneurship and Business Academy (SEBA) for high school students. 1n 2011, the Atlanta Business Journal recognized him among the Who's Who in Atlanta's higher education leadership. In 2012, he was elected a Board member of the United Way of Metro Atlanta and served as Campaign Chair for Clayton County in South Metro Atlanta.
Before joining Clayton State University in 2010, Dr. Ogbuehi was the Founding Dean and Professor of Business Strategy in the School of Business at Park University in Kansas City, Missouri, from 2007 to 2010. While there, he inaugurated the first Advisory Board for the School of Business, led the initial accreditation of the School of Business by ACBSP, and led the development of the initial concept for a new School of Business building facility. Previously, he was Chair of the Department of Marketing & Food Marketing and Director of the M.S. in International Marketing Program at the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Ogbuehi has served as a °ÅÀÖÊÓƵing Professor at leading universities in China, Germany, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe.
A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Ogbuehi holds bachelor's and MBA degrees from the University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Memphis.
