CHARLOTTE, N.C. / January 20, 2020 -It’s not every day you get to golf with a professional athlete, but for two members of Ƶ’s golf team, that dream became a reality.Victor A. Beatty ’20 and Myles Moore ’21 had the opportunity to hit the course off with Carolina Panthers safety Tre Boston last month.
On January 20, 2020 while taking advantage of a day out of class at Sunset Hills Golf Course in Charlotte, Beatty noticed the football player and approached him.
“With Victor being a Panthers fan, he immediately recognized him,” Moore explained.
Boston, who is known for getting in rounds of golf during the off-season, did not hesitate to hit a few holes with the students after they introduced themselves and told him they were on JCSU’s golf team.
“My favorite part was just getting to pick his brain and talk about life other than sports,” Beatty said.
Despite, Boston being a football player, he gets a lot of attention for his golf game, most recently in Golf Digest after a game with JCSU’s student athletes.
For Moore, who played football prior to golf, he is happy Boston is bringing attention to the sport. “Because he is a minority, young men who look like him will find the sport more appealing,” Moore emphasized.
Beatty added, “To see professional athletes that play other sports enjoy the game is awesome.”
