Charlotte, N.C./Aug. 11, 2022 –The New Science Center was lit with discussion at noon on Thursday as students and their families gathered to kick off their first full day of the final Golden Bull Academy (GBA) of the summer.
“This is a great institution,” said JCSU President Clarence D. Armbrister. “Do not miss the opportunity to engage with the incredible faculty here. The promise we make to you is a mutual promise; you have to do your part!”
Among the crowd of families was the Barrow family, coming all the way from St. Lucia. Amani Barrow, a freshman majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, said he’s looking forward to living on his own, getting to know new people and playing on the University’s tennis team.
He came to GBA with his father and his mother, Betty Blanchard-Barrow, who said she was initially hesitant of the thought of her son attending college so far away from home.
“In the beginning of the process, it was kind of frightening and I was a little worried,” she said. “But now that I’m here and I’ve met the staff, the dean and especially the tennis coach, I’m very excited. I know he is in good hands and they made me very comfortable.”
JCSU is eager to welcome all of its students back to campus this weekend, and to officially kick off the 2022-23 academic year next week!
