Dr. Kinloch at Education Day CIAA Tournament 2024

BALTIMORE, M.D./FEB. 29, 2024 – It's a balance of athletics and education at the CIAA Tournament in Baltimore. When they're not at the CFG Stadium cheering on the Golden Bulls, the brigade of student leaders, including the SGA, Mister and Miss JCSU and the royal court - along with Admissions and Student Affairs staff - are inspiring young, bright high school students with dreams of going to college, possibly JCSU! If the energy atCollege Education Day at the Baltimore Convention Center is any indication of the interest level among Baltimore high school students, JCSU can expect a flood of new applicants for the 2024-25 school year.

"Recently I committed to Ƶ to keep playing football and running track, as well. I'm majoring in Sports Management,” said Cameron Lee, a high school senior who applied to JCSU during the education day event. “The reason I chose Johnson C. Smith is because of the great coaching staff. It's a great environment, the academics, and I love it."

JCSU President Dr. Valerie Kinloch ’96 has been on the ground, meeting Baltimore-area high school students where they are.

"I can't resist the opportunity to engage with students and tell them what JCSU has to offer," she said.

Dr. Kinloch is a stand-out among college presidents, one of the few who attendedEducation Day. The focus on higher education was a precursor to a day of basketball at CFG Arena.
