Ƶ nabs two nominations for the 2018-19 HBCU Digest Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 18, 2019 – Congratulations are in order for Ƶ associate professor of political science, Dr. Terza Lima-Neves and the student-run sustainability village. Lima-Neves, nominated for HBCU Female Faculty of the Year Award, announced her nomination on Twitter, saying “Yo! I just found out that I’m a finalist for HBCU Female Faculty of the Year Award by HBCU Digest. I can’t believe it. Thank you.”

The sustainability village, nominated for best student organization, integrates academic coursework, research, service learning and experiential education opportunities to enhance student understanding of sustainable development, community food systems and alternative lifestyles that promote conservation.

Winners will be announced August 2, 2019 at an awards ceremony at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in downtown Baltimore.

For the second consecutive year, Duke Energy Corporation hosted a comprehensive Career Development & Professionalism Workshopaimed at empowering students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in today’s competitive job market. The event took place on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the James B. Duke Library where Duke Energy provided breakfast, lunch, and numerous giveaways. The POWER UP Bootcamp attracted a diverse group of more than 33 undergraduate students from various majors who were eager to enhance their career readiness and skills as well as develop other essential professional competencies.
