Our hearts and prayers go out to the friends and loved ones of alumnus Joseph Charles Jones Sr. ’58, who died at the age of 82 December 27, 2019.

Cody Byrd’s ’17 quick thinking helped to save the life of an 8-year-old girl. Byrd, who was recently featured by WXII 12 News, the NBC affiliate in Greensboro, said he was shocked to learn his efforts helped officers.

Ten business administration students along with Professor Jacqueline Robinson and Dr. Tiffanie Turner-Henderson participated in the annual Food Lion Scholars Day November 13, 2019.

Dr. Terza Lima-Neves, associate professor of Political Science °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ, took a different approach to teaching her hip-hop class, POL 491: Seminar on Black Women and Hip-Hop music. The course, intended to be a collaborative effort between students and the professor, is the first of its kind at JCSU.

°ÅÀÖÊÓƵ was well represented during the 14th annual Human Rights Campaign (HRC) HBCU Leadership Summit. This year, 49 students from 33 HBCU’s convened in Washington, D.C. November 7 – 12, 2019, including JCSU’s Emanuel Hester ’22 and Jasmine White ’20.

Professor Jemayne King, who teaches Sole Food: Digestible Sneaker Culture at °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ, knows all too well the value sneakers have on trends. King’s class is the only one of its kind taught on a collegiate campus in the world. His niche has gained him global media coverage, most recently with ESPN’s docuseries, SneakerCenter.

November is recognized as National Marrow Awareness Month, which honors the people who donate stem cells and bone marrow to help give others a second chance at life. This year Dr. Antonia Mead, professor of Health Education, donated her stem cells to a blood cancer patient.

°ÅÀÖÊÓƵ has not one, but two Forbes under 30 Scholars. Ramoya Grandison ’19, and Anthony Edwards ’21, attended the Forbes under 30 annual summit in Detroit October 27 – 30, 2019, where the best young leaders, founders and creators come together to connect, learn, teach and build.

°ÅÀÖÊÓƵ’s Golden Bullettes had the opportunity to practice with the Honey Bees, the official dance team for the Charlotte Hornets.Ìý
