During the Oct. 10 volleyball game against Livingstone, multiple departments, including Athletics, Counseling Services, Campus Police, University Communications and Marketing and community health organizations came together to shed light on mental wellness for World Mental Health Day.

Three McNair students took the stage at the University of New Mexico’s (UNM) McNair Research Conference in Albuquerque. Dr. Jonathan Smalls, Director of McNair Scholarship Program, selected Aria Springfield, Emoni Lewis, and Kneadee Jackson to represent ������Ƶ.

������Ƶ is taking top honors in a new poll. SR Education Group released its 10th Annual Best Online Colleges in the Nation, and JCSU is taking the #9 spot in North Carolina.

Venessa Roy ’08 has been a firefighter for the last 10 years. It wasn’t the career she envisioned for herself, but the one she is making big achievements in. The Alumna is the first African American engineer (driver/operator) with the Charlotte Fire Department.

Residents of McCrorey Heights, one ������Ƶ’s surrounding neighborhoods created by Dr. Henry L. McCrorey (class of 1893), former JCSU president 1907-1947, welcomed JCSU students and alumni to its community for a homecoming celebration. Smithites old and new enjoyed music, food and games October 5, 2019 after the Golden Bulls win against Lincoln University.

Minda Harts sat in front of a packed room Wednesday, October 4, 2019 reading from her new book, “The Memo”. Her message: How women of color can gain a seat at the table.

The school year has just begun, but Ramoya Grandison has already secured the bag. Deloitte & Touche hired the senior, who double majors in computer science information systems and business administration, five months before graduation. Grandison will remain in the Queen City after graduation in December before starting her new role as Risk and Financial Advisory Group Consultant in March.

More than a dozen students recently attended JCSU senior Ramel Brown’s mental health discussion, Mel’s Mind, in the Rotunda September 20, 2019. The psychology major is working to break the stigma around mental health.��

“My motivation is inspiring and impacting people,” Brown explained.

Phasing Up to New Possibilities, the foster program developed at ������Ƶ in 2009, is celebrating 10 years. To mark the momentous occasion, the program is bringing back a dozen alumni September 20, 2019, to speak on a panel about their experience.

Pi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., presented a $10,000 check to Clarence D. Armbrister, President of ������Ƶ, on September 12, 2019. The contribution will support the President’s Gap Scholarship Fund, which provides funds for students to close the gap between the financial aid they receive and the cost of tuition.
